Catching Up

Just finding time to catch up on my writing. Since I last posted something I've had several things going on. We moved into a new house, started a new job, got a new dog and have our youngest son graduate from High school. The dog, Ridge, is a shit-zu(?) had taken over our house. He can be such pill, but then turn around and be the cutest/silliest dog. Wayne & I might not have any grandchildren but we have a grandpuppy.

Black Jack

There's a new guy at the barn!!! His name is Black Jack (the kids just call him Jack). He is a 14 y.o. Quarter horse, who has had a bad accident and now has a bone chip in his left knee. Resa and I went to Oklahoma to pick him up one Sunday. (Boy that was a long day) Anyway, my farrier's wife told me about Jack and what he used to do (movie stunt horse) and how well he was trained and that his owners were looking for a good place for him to go, since he could not be in the movies any longer. Jack has been with me about 2 months now and he is a fantastic horse. This last Saturday he had his first therapeutic riding lesson and he did wonderfully. Not only is he a good therapy horse, he has added another dimension to my riding lessons! I just realized that I don't have a good current picture of him, but I'll add one tomorrow. OH, and he is madly in love with Pumpkin! They are quite a pair, when they are separated, both of them squeal and nicker! Having horses and having them with me has made such a difference in my life, I just can't describe it, but I'm sure some of you understand what I mean.

Hooterville ?

Yipe-e-e-e! We are finally caught up to the 21st century! We are now connected to the internet after being without for about 6 weeks. My husband says that we live in Hooterville and getting cell phone service and internet is what we have to learn to deal with. I'll put up with the in and out service of the phone and internet because we are now in our new house and I've moved the horses out here with us. It feels wonderful to have the guys and gals with us out here. And no matter what my husband says, he is getting more attached to them every day. Now I have to convince our older son that we do not live in an uncivilized county. He believes that if you do not live in a city with at least 1,000,000 people, then it's the backwoods. Oh well, he is in the Marines and is stationed close enought to us that he can come out to the backwoods on the weekends.

Resa

I'd like to take a few moments to introduce and thank a young lady for her assistance. Resa has been coming out to help/learn with the horses and lessons for about 6 months. Having her come out and brush, comb, lead and talk to the kids has been a tremendous help. (I thought I had a good picture of her, but I can't find a good one, I'll add one as soon as I can.)

New house, moving

Well, our new house is almost finished. Now I've got to get the arena, barn, etc. ready for the horses. The price of sand, railroad ties, and electric fence rope are some of the things I need to get ready. Thankfully, I'm trading services with another trainer and am getting a round pen, saddle racks, and many other things that I'm sure I'll realize I didn't know I had to have. Oh the many things that go into owning horses! BUT I, wouldn't trade any of it for all the world.
